Abstract

Small and medium-sized veterinary clinics find it challenging to maintain operational efficiency and deliver quality client services due to the rising demand for pet care, compounded by their extreme shortage of veterinary staff. Most importantly, existing technologies have not really provided accessible and user-friendly solutions necessary for solving these challenges in smaller-scale settings. To tackle these issues, this study developed VETelgeuse, a mobile and web-based management system that intends to enhance clinic-client communication, streamline operational processes, and improve the quality of pet care services. Furthermore, this study followed the Agile Scrum methodology composed of five phases: initiation, planning, implementation, review, and release. The system's key functionalities include an online appointment scheduler, real-time communication tools, and digital health record management. VETelgeuse's usability was evaluated by 30 end-users using the USE questionnaire, measuring four parameters: usefulness, ease of use, learnability, and satisfaction. The findings revealed a very high usability level on all parameters, proving that VETelgeuse is both effective and user-friendly. Additionally, the results highlight that VETelgeuse is a resilient and scalable solution for improving the operations set within small and medium-sized veterinary clinics, strengthening trust between clinics and pet owners.
